T40 Display problem
T40 Display problem
I have a T40 that has display issues.
When on battery power the backlight does not work, if I play with the "lid-closed" button the display flashes on and off.
If plugged into AC or on the dock it functions as it should.
So what do I need to replace?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Thanks for the welcome!
No, the colors are perfect. No change from new.

Anybody????
Re: T40 Display problem
What happens if you plug in an external monitor/LCD and run the T40 on battery?
Re: T40 Display problem
Just tried with the external. Nothing on the external at all. When I unplug the cable I get the no signal screen but when I plug the cable into the laptop the external monitor goes black.
Re: T40 Display problem
I'd be tempted to try another battery. This is definitely a weird problem.
Re: T40 Display problem
Just tried the other battery that I have. Same issue. If it were yours would you try the inverter first?
Re: T40 Display problem
Well, it's a power issue. If you are docked the LCD works. On battery it does not. That tells me that there is not enough juice on battery to light the LCD. Yeah I guess it could be a marginal inverter, or something flaky with the power management circuitry on the board. Try an inverter.
