That's under a very liberal assumption that only the screens - and not the boards as well - are bad.

UXGA might be worth the trouble if you could do it well yourself...XGA LCD is scrap material only.

Thanks George
Was too far to drive tonight and yes the condition of the boards was a concern.

And besides I need to get rid of my T21s before I collect any more thinkpads .

Easy enough to see if external video works before you buy. Are the 1600x1200 screens as nice as the 1400x1050 in the T23 series?

The fact that the machine displays on external monitor does not mean that the board is good, since outputs for VGA (analog) and LCD (digital) are separate and one can work well while the other one is entirely dead.

UXGA screens found on T4xp machines are much nicer than anything you'll ever see on a 14" machine, including SXGA variety on T23s. Nothing to this day beats an IPS FlexView screen when it comes to laptop LCDs.

Just thinking to replace CCFL on my T60p UXGA too.

Is there any specific CCFL model for this kind of LCD?

Look up the size on the CCFL vendor's website, std format UXGA is 15".
