#1 Post by ktran » Wed Mar 10, 2010 8:33 am

I bought a new ssd( called solidata 64gb -model p2-64), after cloning, i installed to my t43 and got the 1810 error, says the ssd is not compatible or need a lastest firmware, i dont know what to do, please help. Before i put another ssd( transend brand-spelling?) to my t42 , no problem at all

I'm pretty sure that you actually got a "2010 error", which is to be expected.

Enjoy that SSD and don't worry about the error.

In the meantime, you may want to read the loooooong sticky about non-approved drives on T43/p machines at the top of the T4x forum...

You can't fix the error, but you can press "Esc" and boot past it.

Furthermore, if you have the latest BIOS it will offer you the option of automatically booting past the error.

Actually there is a patched BIOS for T43's floating around that has the whitelist check disabled...

:From what I've read here, you need to make sure your T43 has the latest BIOS and Embedded Controller before the SSD will work (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 58597.html). You'll still get the 2010 error, but you can ESC through it or change a BIOS setting to automatically skip it.

Yes, I obtained patched bios from Zender, whos topic bobones linked.

He provided the link when I asked him via PM where I could download T43 bios. Since he is not interested in publicly promoting his website, you should contact him via PM.

Another option is to use BIOS version earlier than 1.03, that will get rid of the 2010 error also.

Interesting. I thought that thread only referred to bypassing the wifi 1802/4 error, not the 2010.

Does the BIOS patch from Zender also fix the 2010 Error? I looked briefly into this when I was looking for a new HDD for my T43, but it didn't seem like there was any solution for it.

You can live with this error, but I chose not to.

While I trust Zender and his skills and am very interested in the BIOS mod that he made, I would not recommend going back to BIOS 1.03 since it can affect the fan operation and a couple of other things. I've tried it and wasn't too pleased with the outcome.

My $0.02 only...

I'm using a BIOS from Zender on one of my R52s (same BIOS as for T43).
That only solves the 1802 wifi card error, NOT the 2010 error unfortunately.

I spoke to Zender on PM. He said "I'm sorry, but I've never released patched BIOS adressing the 2010 problem"

I used it on my T43 but I didn't get the 2010 error in the 1st place, only 1802. I understood that it will cure the 2010 error too. Sorry for the misconfusion.

I answered to link request on PM's.

There is indeed a patch here floating around that gets rid of the 2010 error. I did it on a T43p which I still have, seller took the original 100gb and swapped it with a 40gb 5400rpm  . If you search here you may still get it, it's kind of a DOS program. I may still have it saved somewhere but it was two years ago when I did it.
