T43 expansion card slot

I have a T43 taken apart to replace the fan and while i was in there, I cleaned everything up and while doing that I found out that the expansion card holder/caddy is jammed and when I press the blue release buttons that are on the side I cannot make them do anything. Can this be fixed or should it be replaced? After taking the caddy out of the laptop and looking at it, I cannot see anything actually wrong with it.

Put in a PC-card, that should 'activate' the lever(s).
