aaack i dinged my palm rest!!

#1 Post by halfcard » Sat Feb 26, 2005 7:29 pm

i feel sick! i was putting in the new keyboard but first i had to take out the old one. well it wouldn't push forward to pop out, i was pressing as hard as i could with my finger.

so i decided to put the tip of a screwdriver under the front edge. not only did this not help, but when i pulled back the screwdriver i saw this ding on the case!

aaaarrghh!!!!!

anyway finally i got some object to push against the back of the keyboard and it popped right out.

well, just a tip for the rest of you guys, i can't believe i did that!

You can remove the palm rest (see available on-line hardware manual) and remove any sharp edges with a sharp knife. Then replace the palm rest and live with it. This all assumes that the ding is on the keyboard edge of the palm rest.

Or, you can get a new palm rest. I think they are reasonably priced.

Put it in your personal webspace, and then post the link.

if the nick bugs you, its an easy replacement and not expensive unless you want to retain the touchpad..
