T42 mother boards swap- new board rejects wifi and ethernet

#1 Post by hertfordnc » Sat Mar 20, 2010 3:04 pm

My T42 died. (graphics)

I bought a motherboard on ebay, it was actually the whole bottom half of the laptop less drive and keyboard.

I connected the other components and and it booted. It stopped booting with this message: "nauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.

When i disconnected the wifi card it works perfectly.

It also does not see an Ethernet connection

I also tried using my old CPU. with that installed it does not boot at all.

What are my options?

THanks

Keep the CPU that came with it.
Get the NO-1802 hack and apply (without the wifi card in the machine). Then reinsert wifi card.
Install ethernet drivers from IBM/Lenovo.

The 'old' CPU not working makes me wonder about the type of bottom you bought. Was that a T43 bottom?
What is the 7-char. TYPE, looks like e.g. 2366-47U of both old and and new machines?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
