Track point
Track point
New to IBM Thinkpad......Was trying to open an email when all of a sudden it just went missing. It's not in any of my mail folders. Where did it go?! Is it somewhere in my track point mouse properties? Frustrated.

Re: Track point
Assuming that you can find/have found the "missing" trackpoint cursor, there's a couple of settings in the Mouse Properties/Pointer Options tab in Windows XP Control Panel that can ease your pain:
- Hide pointer while typing; make sure that this is unchecked
- Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key; enabled (check) this option and then when you press and release the CTRL key, a large circle will pinpoint where the cursor is on the screen.
Trackpoints also have the (irritating) tendency to sometimes take off on its own. This can happen if you continually rest your finger against the pointer and then remove the pressure. The trackpoint is designed to auto-calibrate itself and this can cause the cursor to move in one direction for a few seconds. If this is done when the cursor is near the bottom or right edges of the screen, then it can become "lost". Automatic movement can also happen if there's a mechanical defect with the trackpoint.
