T41 can't resume standby with an external keyboard/usb mouse

#1 Post by spetersba » Sun Feb 27, 2005 8:23 pm

I am unable to resume standby with both a ultranav keyboard and also a USB logitech mouse. I notice that there is not a Power Management tab for either device. Thus I am not able to check the box, allow this device to bring the computer out of standby. Both devices work fine on a thinkpad 570E.
Able to hit the power switch on the mini-dock, to bring out of standby. Just can't figure out why I can't configure a mouse or keyboard to bring the system out of standby :-(
Has anyone else used an ultranav keyboard to resume from standby?

Dear spetersba,

I had the same problem with a ultranav keyboard, but I finally
figured out its solution.

Go to "Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager ->
Keyboard -> HID Keyboard Device -> Power Management."

Then check "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".
You will be able to resume from standby by hitting the "Fn" key.

You may have to install the latest power management and hot key
drivers.

Best,

Have you installed the keyboard driver in the CD that came with your UBS ultranav keyboard?

No, since my input device that is causing the problem is a basic USB mouse ... :?

Still have the same problem with the keyboard.
I have updated all the drivers, and firmware.
There doesn't appear to be a power management tab.
The same holds true for the USB mouse that is installed.
I thought there might be some bios setting....who knows

spetersba,

I am sorry to hear that you still have the same problem. I am not
sure whtat went wrong. Actually I can now see "Power Management
Option" tap not only in "HID Keyboard Device Properties" but also in
both "Composite USB Synaptics Touchpad Properties" and "Synaptics
Composite USB Touchstyk Properties".

These are some suggestions:

1. I would try uninstalling Logitech mouse drivers first to isolate
the source of the problem. (I do not use an external mouse.)

2. Is the version of your ultranav keyboard driver 7.5.16.3
(2004-11-30)? If not, get one at:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-52559

Then uninstall the old drivers first, before you install new one. Go
to "Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall both "IBM
USB (Travel) Keyboard with Ultranav" and "IBM Thinkpad Ultranav
Driver". You will be prompted to reboot.

Install the keyboard driver in the CD that came with your UBS
ultranav keyboard, and then the new ultranav keyboard driver.

3. Install the most recent power management driver (version 1.30,
2005-02-11) and hot key driver (version 1.11.0402, 2005-02-11).

Good luck.
