T40p - Help getting HDMI to workthrough dock?

I recently bought a full HDMI TV. I set up my T40p's docking station and attached it via the HDMI cable to the TV, but it didn't seem to work.

The computer is running XP Pro and doesn't have any of the IBM/Thinkpad software installed. Do I need to install a driver or something? If so, and if you know where to find the link, please share it.

Windows 7 works much better but I am using a T43p. I used XP on a A31p before but had to use 1280x720 instead of the native 1366x768. A band is missing around the edges.

(1) The t40p should be able to handle Windows 7 very well.
(2) make sure you have installed the display driver, you need it to support advanced functions, and ot improve performance.
(3) try installing presentation director, which will give you the option to set up everything automatically when you dock, and gives (IMHO) more control. on my t41, the newest version of presentation director supports 1360*768, so the black band should not be that bad.

So the only way to get my T40p to do HDMI is by installing Windows 7?

I like the fact that there is an option but I'm not very excited about the time and money it would require.

Kylan, I don't blame you matey. I can't see the point of paying for Windows 7 to get HD when Linux is free and XP works well. Maybe you can be happy with SD until a solution comes along.

The presentation director is in xp. points 1 and 2 I made above are for xp. get the most recent presentation director, and set the display resolution. Xp should handle it fine.
