2378FVU Warranty options

#1 Post by ellinj » Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:29 pm

In my quest to pick a new thinkpad I am trying to price a 2378FVU on the IBM EPP site. I am little bit confused by the warranty options. I added Warranty service upgrade 3 year depot repair and I get an error that " ServicePacs are available only for machines normally used for business, professional, or trade purposes, rather than personal, family or household purposes. "

How does one upgrade to a 3 year warranty for personal use?

Also whats the difference between the depot warranty for additional 118, the three year thinkpad protection for an additional $152 and the thinkpad three year protection w/depot service for an additional $269

Thinkpad Protection is accidental damage insurance. The depot service extension doesn't cover accidental damage, but does cover defects and other failures in the laptop.

I have a friend that had trouble doing the same thing. You may have to call IBM instead of using the web.

Extended service contracts are available for sale in all U.S. states EXCEPT in: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Wonder why Connecticut is excluded?

I live in California, and have a 2378-FVU with a 3 year extended and accidental damage.

Just call them. It's MUCH easier.
