Just ordered a 2373-M3U thanks for all your help. Its backordered about 2weeks, but it should be worth the wait.

Jeff, you may be a happy ThinkPad owner much sooner than you expect.

The IBM web site showed a similar two week wait for a T42 2373-M3U when I recently ordered one. The emailed order confirmation had an even longer expected ship date of about 3 weeks. You can track your order number on IBM.com. It surprised and pleased me that my order shipped within three days. It took a day after my order shipped from Hong Kong for it's tracking number, which I found on IBM.com, to work on ups.com. IBM sent it by 2 day UPS delivery. It shipped from HK on Friday and was delivered to me in California the following Monday (a holiday so I hadn't' expected a delivery till Tuesday or Wednesday).

One can only hope:)

Or do you just insult the people that don't?

/just wondering
NO..
that is absurd..
i could not HOPE to sell to everyone, nor do i restrict this open forum to any group or exclude any person..
what part of OPEN in open forum is not clear.. ?
when i DO see some threads i don't like i either ignore them, make a comment and move on..

what i feel about EPP, SPP and student discount plans and the like is those programs are there for a reason..

to be used by those who qualify, not abused by anyone who can lie to gain a few dollars off..

i do not think it is appropriate to use this open forum to conspire among those seeking to abuse such programs..

if someone wants to buy a new thinkpad, there are many vendors who will happily accomodate anyone who can pay..

the rules posted by leon above sound fair but might need some tweaking..

ALL this said, i can usually match most pricing for new thinkpads..
if i can not, i am not offended if a buyer buys elsewhere.. :)

it is near 4am and time for bed..
more on this subject as these questions "pop" up..

if you want to wait for a t43, get: 2668-4EU going for $2299, the epp price should be $1495

and if you really only need surfing and solitaire, and prefer portability, why not going with a x40?
I don't see 2373-M3U listed on EPP web site.

The 2668-45U looks like it may work as well. Whats the ETA on the T43 machines?
FWIW, that price for the 2373M3U is way below my cost, so i can't match it..

and i am happy that someone finds the help here so as to choose a good thinkpad model..

the M3U is an excellent choice..

post your opinion here when you receive it.. :)

i should add that i am from the "old school" of computer semi-professionals who built the first computers, in 1974, with a soldering station and a good light (usually), wire wrap tools and other components that were forced into a workable and useable computer..

at that time (see: homebrew computer club) we shared and helped each other with little thought to making large sums of cash in the process..

now, in these last 10 - 15 years, all that has changed..

every scam seems to be coming down these data pipes and everyone needs to be cynical and very careful..

this open forum is an heir of that time, in the 1974 to 1980 time period, when most people helped on another..
please note that i am NOT an altruist and i am not a charitable institution, but i am not driven by greed, only lack of sleep..
but i still remember that time, when this "business" was not all about how much one could make but more about a community that worked together for a common goal.. :)
and that goal was making a piece of hardware that worked and a bit of software that likewise worked..!

[/end ramble thru time]

SO, all that said, i reiterate that i really appreciate the opportunity to sell the occasional thinkpad, the chance to convert a user from the dark side and introduce them to the really fine bit of hardware that a thinkpad is and MAYBE make a buck at the same time.. :)

My order has now changed from processing to packing. Does this mean that they are preparing it for shipment? If so thats certainly faster then I expected.

I got an email today that it shipped. Wonder if that means Monday or Tuesday delivery from HK. Going to have to take the morning off since I don't trust UPS not to just leave on the door. Hope I have the tracking number tomorrow. Web site says its available the day after shipment.
