CD-ROM Program installed but will not play

#1 Post by Sand » Mon Feb 28, 2005 9:13 am

I installed a program last night that will not play and keeps asking for the cd to be inserted into the drive. I know that it is unnecessary, because it is a program that does not need to use the cd whenever I play it.
I have it installed on my desktop, and it works fine.

I know that when I put the cd in the drive, I had trouble getting the drive open again after the installation, but I don't think that should have anything to do with it.

I know it's installed and not just downloaded, because the tutorial for the program will come up,( besides the fact that I watched the installation.)

TIA,
Sand

Was this a burnt disc or an original copy? Sounds to me like a corrupted intallation file. have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the program?

Thanks for that suggestion; I un-installed-re-installed. But when I was re-installing, saw a box I didn't notice previously, asking if I wanted to install this to play with cd, or on my hard disk. That was the problem. After selecting hard disk, it worked fine.

Only thing now is, I can't get the drawer open to remove the disk. I press everywhere, but it doesn't open. Is this a common problem?

I rebooted...it worked.

Don't know what I would do without this forum.

I called IBM about a manual, but when I followed their instructions to go to website, search, etc. just got pdf for setup...said that Access IBM takes the place of manual.

thanks,
Sand
