Is the T40 a good choice?

I need a very inexpensive laptop and the T40 caught my eye

I was wondering if it has better or has on par performance as a netbook on the market today
All i need it for is web browsing. I am going to be running linux mint 8

There certainly are better choices than a T40 due to GPU reliability issues. How much is "very inexpensive" ?

Really cheap. Pretty much a disposable one use laptop for a few months. I just need something for around 200 on ebay that works

I think you're better off investing a couple hundred dollars here, than eBay. You might pay a bit more here, but the people here tend to be much more honest about what they're selling than eBay. That has a lot of value, especially on a used notebook. The Z60t, an underrated ThinkPad if you like widescreens, might be another option. Throw up a post in the marketplace forum to see if anyone's got anything they're trying to sell.

Thanks i didnt even know about the z60t. it looks pretty much the same spec wise and widescreen would be nice
