T42p - confirmation of graphics card issue?

Howdy all,

My sister's T42p is showing the following symtoms:

1) Screen is off from boot and stays that way for 99% of the time. When you get to the XP login screen, you may see the welcome screen for a second or two.

2) I tried connecting to an external monitor via through both DVI and VGA and behaviour is the same.

3) If I apply pressure around the touchpad area (I'm guessing the graphics card is around here), the screen occasionally flickers on for a second or two. It is quite inconsistent though.

From what I've read on the forum, it sounds like the graphics card has become unsoldered. Would appreciate it if someone could confirm if the symtoms tie in with the diagnosis?

Given that the behaviour is the same on both LCD and the external monitor, you are looking at the GPU detachment issue.
