#1 Post by MnR » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:39 am

Hi,

Got a question. Which Wireless card is the best for a T43 (For A/B/G)?

Hi,

Thanks for the information! Right now I have B/G in the T43 and A/B in the T41. I am waiting for another T43 that will be here in a few days. That one is also B/G.

So it looks like I will be going with the 2915. My T41 Will be going up forsale soon if the new T43 works out..

"Please check with manufacturer or contact me to confirm compatibility. Many HP/Compaq, IBM/Lenovo and Toshiba models will not accept third party wireless cards or may only accept a specific replacement part."

goes without saying that you will first need to perform the no-1802 mod to use the non-ibm wifi cards.

i am using a Ralink b/g card that was pulled out of a wifi router that met an untimely demise on my T40

FYI, "no-1802" patch does NOT work on T43/p or R52, you need a modded BIOS.

Also, if one doesn't speifically need "a" functionality, 2200BG has far more stable performance than 2915ABG in my not-so-modest experience with these machines.

YMMV.

Hi,

I need the "A" on at least one of my laptops so I can run both of them at the same time. Distance is no problem for "A" as I get good recption with all modes.

I am just trying to get rid of the plugin PCMIA card on the T41. It is wireless upgradeable.

OK I lost you here...

Why would you need "a" to be able to use both laptops at the same time?

Hi george,

One laptop (my wifes) uses "A" and I use "G". The seperation between the two bands works great. No slow down when she is downloaded her legal documents, While I am doing research on the web.

In my area people don't know the "A" mode which is great for me. Up here they read about something and have to have it...:)

Most of the people are using "N" and "G"

OK, I understand what you're saying now...would probably question some of the settings involved, but that's beside the point.

You also may want to try IBM (Atheros) a/b/g II which is by far my favourite card for the T43/p, although a little more difficult to find than 2915ABG.

Happy hunting.
