T42 Fingerprint reader

#1 Post by tim S » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:49 pm

I have a T42 that I just replaced the palmrest to one with a built in fingerprint reader
but I can't get the laptop to recognize the reader after the drivers have been installed.
It doesn't show up in 'device manager',and I can't find an entry for it in (latest) BIOS either.
Any hope?
Thanks in advance

Tim

Very few high-end T42/p machines were offered with a FPR, most of the planars used in these do not support it. It wasn't until T43/p that the FPR support became universal.

Check the FRU of your motherboard (or just post the original 7-character model number) and we'll take it from there, but chances are that you can't get it to work.

Thanks for the info. My Thinkpad is a 2374-JU4 which is based on a 2374-4WU.
Looking at the FRUs I see the reader isn't supported. Oh well!
