#1 Post by Scorpiontico » Tue Mar 01, 2005 8:46 am

Hi guys,
*Is it possible to get multiple discounts on 1 simple notebook?

the discounts im refering to are:
-visa/master card discount (could it be a debit/check card)
-Educational discount
-EEP discount

*can i combine them all for 1 notebook purchase?

*is there any other discount? :D

Thanks all.

in short, no.... generally, as a full time student, your best discount is through your school or schools site (which your bookstore will know about). Bill (the host of this site) is currently having a sale. See http://www.thinkpads.com/start.htm . If you are really short on cash, there are some good deals available on Used Thinkpads. Check the User For Sale section of this Forum. If you decide to go the used route, post again asking, and I'm sure that others can supply you with some reliable used Thinkpad retailers.

hi leon, thanks for your quick and helpful reply.
but isnt the EEP offering greater discounts than Educational ones?
since i cant combine discounts i will try to get the best one, but which one is it. im a current college student and i have friend who might get me the EEP discount plus i have a visa debit/check card in case this discount is even better (to let you know).

also please excuse my poor knowledge of how all this works and sure i will check Bill' stuff... used lappys sound interesting too!

thanks.

ps: by the way i noticed that you live in boston, MA, i lived in east boston for about 5 years :D .

epp is the best of standard thinkpad
for express models, there maybe some better discount on edu site/bill than from epp.

Remember, you save tax, come to 100+ if you buy from Bill

Scorpiontico, I think that baraider summarized pretty well... yes, check all the programs you are qualified for, remembering that many models are similar...please take the time to add location and other pertinent information to your profile.

Welcome for both of you to our Forum.

Thanks!

i see.... how about these systems (bill or others):

-2668g2u
-266872u (prefered)
-26684eu
or
-2373m3u
-2373p3u

i qualify to: EEP by a friend, Edu. sales and visa/master card.

t43 26684eu is a better choice over t42 2373m3u right? since its sonoma.

thank you.

ps: i have Edu prices for the models i mentioned above already :) .

Newer, yes. Better, not neccessary.

I have the m3u and i love everything about it. I don't care about the sonoma that much. I care about how long my battery last. I may need to order a 9 cell soon since i don't think my 6 cells cut it for my 2 classes.

I take note in latex for my classes so i need battery that last longer than 4 hours.

if its ok to ask, how much did you get it for and how (method/way/program).

thanks, i know its a great system, you can check on my old posts that i always wanted this system (2373m3u), but i noticed that the 26684eu costs the same and its about new tec stuff, both perfectly fits any of my needs.

26684eu pretty much looks like the 2373m3u's upgrade version for sonoma, dont you think?

i see no reason for you not to have the sonama one, specially for the same price as the the m3u. I got m3u via epp.

It's all about newer tech vs proven tech. it's your call now because the spec are the same, the prices are the same.

Whatever you end up with, you will be happy i'm sure cause it's called Thinkpad :D

asking specific personal questions like "how much did you pay"are best asked and answered (if the party wishes to) by personal message.... if you wish to know the EPP discount, please ask your IBM friend....

i didnt know, sorry, i asked because i saw many people posting their prices as for help when buying. and also since you think that is personal i wont ask again (or other such things)... my friend worked for ibm, i understand that he can still buy from EPP, right? (according to the article i read somewhere time ago)

thanks.

I'm not sure of the policy for former employees, as they change over time, but I'm sure your friend won't mind you asking.....

I think the majority of us here are not eligible for those huge EPP discounts, so talking about EPP prices is not very nice. However, if you are eligible for a discount, go for it! No point paying more than what you should. (As I student, I naturally went the EDU route.)
