Where can I find the battery cycle count at???????

#1 Post by Dave5049 » Tue Mar 01, 2005 8:10 pm

Where is the battery cycle count located? I have tried looking all over my T23 and can't find where it's at, I just bought a brand new IBM battery off eBay for $60 and I wan't to make sure it doesn't have any counts on it. I would like to check the old counts too, the old battery only lasts about 30 min. now. Thanks

Try ThinkPad Configuration, System Info and the battery page.

I still can't find anything about cycles there, just a power meter and battery serial number and manufacturer.

OR ThinkPad Configuration...PowerManagement...Battery Information...Status Detail

Hope this helps.

I get my cycle count and lots of info at either of those two links.

I guess it is not working for you. I don't have a clue, then.

Thinkpad Configuration> Power Management> Battery Information, not Thinkpad Configuration> Power Management> Advanced Settings!

Or, System Information> Details> Battery information.

Also, System Information> System summary will give you a text file with the battery information among other things.

Left click the battery icon in the taskbar (It says 60% in your screenshot), select the bottom item in the popup list (Battery Info?), click on the battery health button in the window that pops up. Your cycle count should be there.

I had the same exact problem with my T40--couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the cycles info. Turns out I was DOUBLE-CLICKING on the Battery Miser icon or right-clicking it--which simply pulls up the power scheme selection. You have to left-click the gauge once to get the menu with "battery information" on the bottom, which thens brings up the tabbed popup where you can get the cycles information.

It's a really stupid system--you should be able to get access to all of this information whether you one-click or double-click it.

The right click on the battery icon was the trick, seems I tried that before and it didn't work, but it does. It is a new battery, it was made by Sanyo and has 1 count on it but it was made back on 8-31-2000 so it's almost 5 years old, but it did charge up to full design capacity of 38.88 Wh, think it was worth $60?

So, it was only a right click...
The other methods posted above...going thru control panel's ThinkPad Configuration did not work?? Do you even have this option in your control panel?

Mine came with W2K although I have eCS as well and that is my main OS. Under w2k, there is a battery icon near the right side of the bar across the bottom. Click on that. A popup menu will offer you some choices one of which is battery health. You'll find the cycle count there. If you don't have w2k, I'm sorry I can't help.
