I've been cleaning out my computer (T40) and noticed that I have two Synaptics processes running (SynTPEnh.exe and SynTPLpr.exe), and I have two separate but seemingly identical Synaptics folders in my Program Files folder, one called Synaptics and one Synaptics(2). both seem to contain the same files. They were created one day apart.
Can I safely assume is that I only need one SynTP process running? If so, which one? And how do I remove one without screwing up the other? I looked in the add/remove programs list and saw just a single entry for the UltraNav driver and one for the UltraNav wizard. Same when looking at installed applications via the IBM software installer.
I can only assume that in updating the UltraNav driver somewhere along the way the software installer simply didn't bother removing the old version, which is still alive and still has a separate folder.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me and suggest how to go about fixing it (if indeed it is broke)?
I guess the thing to do is uninstall all UltraNav drivers and delete all directories and registry entries then reinstall from scratch.
Thanks.
