2 problems with T42

#1 Post by jeffej » Sun May 09, 2010 4:14 pm

I just reinstalled my T42 using RECOVERY and RESCUE CDs, it looks good, however, two problems:
1. when I maxmize browser, it covered full screen, and I can not see the bottom.
2. My laptop can not be turned off unless I hold 'power' button for 10 seconds or longer. When I click 'shut down', it allways appear a dialog box and ask me to click 'end now', and I click that, but it still be the same screen, meanwhile if I try use some program, it says, ' you can not use it, because your computer is turning off '. The longest time I wait for this situation is 4 hours, it did not turned off eventrally.
So could someone help me to handle it also? Thanks a lot.

I don't know how proficient you are with "computers" but you should run procexp ( here : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx ) cause it seems to me some background program or service is blocking the shutdown procedure.

There's also an option to tell windows not to wait more than N seconds for programs to shut.
Look here : http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/ ... tdown.html
