Which wireless LAN option should I choose?
IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter [$84.15]
IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II [$34.00]
IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II (US) [$55.25]
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter from IBM [$50.15]
Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter [$8.50]
What is the difference?
IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II [$34.00]
IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II (US) [$55.25]
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter from IBM [$50.15]
Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter [$8.50]
What is the difference?

Hi,
Can you give a link for where you got the list from?
This is the most recent one (except I don't know why you have two version II).
73P4301 IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II
but it goes for $65 in the list I have.
That is the one I would get (you also want to have all standards: a, b, and g for best coverage).

Well, I am on the IBM education web site, and I searched T43p. Then I clicked the "Add Option" button for 2668H4U, and that's where you can see this list for the wireless option.
I really don't know who is using 802.11a nowdays, I think the Intel2200BG is enough. But in case some odd APs have only 802.11a, I don't mind to add the a/b/g card. Then I am confused about these a/b/g cards. The IBM a/b/g should be an Artheros chipset product, but what is the IBM a/b/g II, normally if it is II, it should be more expensive, right? And I have no idea abou the (us) version.

OK, somethink I found out:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/accessories/co ... gowireless
If you click the 73P4301, it shows IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II (US). So I am lost.

And the funny thing is:
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter from IBM [$50.15]
Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter [$8.50]
If it is the same thing, but from IBM, it will cost so much more!

It turns out that the H4U comes with the Intel 2915 wireless card.
The way to find out is to look at the tabook.pdf document on this page:
http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/me.nsf/relate ... e&cntry=US
There are two wireless II adapters.
One based on the Atheros IBM 5004X chipset (the part number above).
One based on the Intel 2915 chipset.
These two wireless units are roughly equivalent (Intel perhaps better on compatibility and Atheros is more advanced and perhaps better with range).
It is nice to have the 'a' standard because people are getting interference with b/g.

Well, I don't why, but I cannot open your link.
According to the tabbook, the 2668H4U's wireless LAN should be user upgradable cause it has a star before the wireless LAN part.
Anyway, I followed my procedure again, and found out the part # for these things:
Wireless connectivity: IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter 31P9701
Wireless connectivity: IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II 73P4304
Wireless connectivity: IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II (US) 73P4301
Wireless connectivity: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI Adapter from IBM 73P2801
Wireless connectivity: Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter 73P2805

No, the star means Intel Centrino because of the Intel part wireless part.
