few months ago, my thinkpad (T40 2373-MG0) fumed while i was working on it.
The smoke came out from the charging plug.
i shut it down immediately, and i turned it on in the day after.
surprisingly, the laptop turned on and works fine when it connected to the charger (AC).
but, the battery did not charged although i see in the task bar the AC plug icon.
when i disconnect the charger from the laptop, it still does the beep beep sound, and also doing it when i do connect the charger back .
i checked the battery on another T40, and fully charged it, so the battery is not burned and it works just fine.
if the battery is charged and the charger is not connected, the laptop runs on the battery for long (almost 3 hours)
i opened the laptop to look for burning marks, but didn't find anything that looks burned.
the laptop is in a good condition, and i don't want to throw it to the garbage...
Does anyone had this problem, or even something similar ?
maybe you can direct me to a specific chip / charging circuit so i can check it ?
thanks alot,
