What is a good chip maker either equal or better then the orig. chip?

My T42p came with Micron ram. My two T42s came with Hynix. I don't know (and don't believe) that distinction normally runs across the different trims available.

You can get Micron RAM from www.crucial.com, Micron's own retail site. The prices are good for the premium you get for the best RAM.

Honestly though, any compatible RAM should work just fine, I got a 512MB stick from Corsair and have never had a blue screen.

If you're selling your 512 stick, send me an e-mail. I'd be interested.

I bought a 1GB module on e-bay from a seller named QualityRams. It works great - got it for $185.

Example is E-bay auction 6736535567

Your thinkpad uses PC2700 333MHz SODIMM memory (CAS 2.5)
