liquid inside T40

#1 Post by beerak » Thu Mar 03, 2005 10:59 am

Hi,

my friend spilled a beer to his T40,

he turned it on and it worked, but he noticed a liquid near the spacebar so he hibernated it.

then it has not started again :(

Any ideas what could happen ?
Let's go'n'restart :-)

maybe ok once it't really thoroughly dry-

battery out and fan on it for a couple of days!

lid open in front of a dehumidifier may cut that down to 1 day

and yea, like in the thread leon posted taking it apart as much as possible is good-- but only if you are comfortable doing so

it really depends a lot on how quicklly it was turned off after the spill
and where exactly the liquid went.

That just to show you...Drinking and heave machinery don't mix...

I've hear that you can wash up your electronics with distiled water...Good luck...

Hi,
had same situation once. I have kids who spilled 1 liter of orange juice on my running thinkpad:-)
Removed the battery at once, disassembled, removed bios battery.Washed everything with distilled water, dried for 3 days on radiator. Worked again!
