Thanks mpcook for your report. In the mean time I was created HDD identify data difference report, using following drives:
-> Hitachi 5k100 w/ official IBM firmware
-> Hitachi 7k100 w/ official IBM firmware
-> Samsung HM160HC - non approved drive

Focus on red-colored cells of Samsung's identify data - values in these cells are different against drive with official firmware and I can say, that BIOS in T43/R52/X41 reads some or all of these blocks and if something doesn't match, sings "2010 ERROR". I have to contact BIOS engineer now who will find offsets in BIOS which reading such red-colored blocks from drive. I will keep this topic updated.

EDIT> if the "2010 ERROR" will be fixed in BIOS forever, each non-approved HDD will probably need its own modified BIOS. So there will be so many modified BIOSes, how many types of non-approved HDDs are used in these affected machines.

Using Assembler, once the start of the 2010-read-procedure is found, it should be easy to make a 'jump' to the same exit or label as used when known drive was found.

Simplified:
start read-routine
check known hard disks in table
..
..
if HD found go to HD-OK
else
display error 2010
..
..
[label] HD-OK
continue.....

I started this stuff 2 years ago, but haven't really got time for it, so gave it up.
Most likely the wanted Error-2010 routine is in the BIOSCOD#.ROM files.
These have 27-byte headers, which need to be cut from there, or else the absolute addressing won't work.
In the header at position 0Ah are four bytes which are the words segment: offset, big endian (read backwards).

To work on these files, the free version of the IDA disassembler will do.
