Hi - I've been having a problem with my T42 ThinkPad over the last couple of weeks. Basically, it's been sporadically shutting down for no apparent reason. I've done some research already, and I've checked the fan and the internal temperatures, which are fine, and I know that it's not a bluescreen. Basically everything shuts off, including the battery light which is normally always on - I'm thinking it may be a bad connection between the battery and the laptop, but I'm not really sure. The battery is probably old but looks, at least externally, fine, and the charge still lasts for several hours. The shutdowns appear to happen in waves (i.e., they'll happen a bunch of times in a row, and then not happen for a day or two).
Any suggestions/ideas appreciated.
Thanks, Dave
T42 keeps shutting down?
Re: T42 keeps shutting down?
Try running the laptop with the battery removed for awhile. Does it still shut down?
