Sticking Button on Ultranav
The left mouse button on my ultranav touchpad has begun to stick. I removed the palm rest and tried compresssed air but it still sticks. Any suggestions?

Re: Sticking Button on Ultranav
I had this problem recently so I gently lifted off the left mouse button using a fingernail under the red edge. After cleaning carefully under the key and around the rubber mechanism using an old toothbrush, I put it back together and still had the same problem.house kitten wrote:The left mouse button on my ultranav touchpad has begun to stick. I took it apart again and realized that the bottom rear of the key had a groove that connected to a little bar that acted as the hinge mechanism. This groove had gotten dirty and slightly sticky and I used a tiny screwdriver to scrape the crud out ... the toothbrush works okay for dust and crumbs but didn't help with the stuck-on crud in the groove. This solved my sticking mouse key problem.
If the rubber thing under the key has deteriorated and cracked, then the springiness of the key will have suffered but in my case, the mouse key was actually sticking and driving me crazy.

Re: Sticking Button on Ultranav
It will be dirt or a deteriorated rubber cup.
The best thing to do is to completely strip it down and very gently clean all the dirt out. Just make sure you don't sweep any dirt onto the pcb switch mech under the rubber cup.
This diagram will show you how to strip and reassemble it.
