t41 lcd problems (horizontal lines) or ribbon screen cable??

my lcd on the t41 has horizontal lines across it and different colours as well, but on external everything is fine no problems

when i press the FN and monitor button a few times i can see letters on the LCD and thats it


im just wondering if my lcd is defective or the ribbon cable?

Remove the keyboard screws, lift up the keyboard (but leave it connected), put and maintain pressure on the graphics chip, and see if things improve, even temporarily.
If so, your graphics chip is coming loose (bet it's an ATI 7500).
Reballing it will solve the problem.

Likelihood is the LCD. The interface in the ribbon cable to the MB is serial. So the display will be a mess if the cable is bad. There are row drivers tab bonded to the glass and these can go bad.
