Does anyone who has purchased a 14" (non Flexview) T42 also have a 600X. I would like a screen comparison between the two.
Thanks!
600X vs T42 (non-Flexview)
I have a 600X(13.3"XGA) and a T40p (14.1"SXGA+)
The screens have the same viewing angles, the T40p has better colours (Black blacker, etc) The T40p has a brighter screen (but that's probably becuase it has a lot newer backlight) but the one odd thing I've noticed is that the T40p doesn't go instantly to its full brightness (it kind of warms up) whereas the 600X goes straight to its full brightness. This can be seen by closing your lid and then reopening and watching the screen lighten up.
Either way, both are great models (I love the 600X)
Just got a X40 for a friend of mine and with the X4 base, it reminds me of a 600X--especially the keyboard/trackpoint and the one-piece-like construction (of course, it's much lighter even with the base than a 600X and without the base, the X40 is tiny)

I've used a 600X for the last few years and used a T40P for a month or so. As cynic says, the T40's color and contrast and brightness are significantly better. The biggest difference, though, is the 1400x1050 resolution. I returned the T40p and am waiting for my T42 (14"), and going back to the lower resolution has been painful. Also, as is discussed here http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=819 , it sounds like the T42s shipping now have Samsung displays that are better specced than the earlier T4x's.
