T43 CPU upgrading, worth it?

#1 Post by icecold1001 » Tue Jun 15, 2010 9:00 pm

I am considering upgrading my T43 model: 1872BA2 from Pentium M 740 1.73GHz to Pentium M 750 1.86GHz. Thinking of buying the CPU SL7S9 from ebay (~USD$14) and getting my local shop to do the upgrading.

Was wondering is this upgrade worth it and whether any visible increase in performance be detectable?

Secondly, is the upgrade difficult or can I DIY? Upgrading experience only limited to changing the RAM module under the keyboard.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Although a CPU swap is not a difficult task, I'd advise you not to proceed in that direction. Improvement in performance will not be detectable by any means.

Any CPU lesser than PM 760 or 770 is not worth it in my opinion.

Good luck.
