'a' key doesn't work on one side

#1 Post by Lucretia » Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:11 am

Hi,

My T42 has just got a really odd problem, if I press the 'a' key on the left side it doesn't work, but anywhere else it does. This is really annoying when typing fast as I end up with works missing the 'a'. All other keys work fine wherever I press them.

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Luke.

Carefully lift up the key from the front until it pops off. Then clean it and replace the cap.
Or replace the complete key. There are single keys available on eBay.

Holy fek! I took the key off, gave it a good blow and put the key back on, works fine now. There was a small hair under it, but dunno if that anything to do it...v strange.

Thanks!
Luke.

I have had this problem with crumbs and dust bunnies. Never had to remove the key though. I use a toothpick (carefully) or compressed air (canned air).

I don't recommend using a vacuum though... vacuum the hell outta my keyboard!
