T43 Replacing the Keyboard

#1 Post by CallDon » Wed Jul 07, 2010 3:51 pm

Help!!!

The ."period" key fell off my T43. The little rubber thing keeps moving around and i can't find any of the little metal spring thingies. In other words, I need to replace this keyboard. Is there and easy, relatively easy way to do it?

Thanks for suggestions

It is very easy to replace. Just follow the HMM.

Very simple. Turn the laptop over and look for 4 screws with a keyboard symbol next to them. Remove all 4.
Turn the laptop over and open the lid. Push the keyboard back towards the screen until the the edge is visible
along the front. Pry the edge up with a small screwdriver or thumbnail, release the cable and that's it. Installation
is the reverse, except you pull the keyboard forwards until the edge goes under the palmrest.

You can buy individual keys for your keyboard on eBay.
Just make sure you get the correct key-type (there are three).
Most offer you pictures to compare with your own keyboard.
