How to install wireless card in red hat linux?

#1 Post by bobbi » Sun Jul 11, 2010 2:25 pm

Hi guys, I have a t43p thinkpad and I installed Red hat linux on this machine. Everything works fine but the wireless internet is not connected. Do you know how to install and setup the wireless adapter properly in this system? I believe the card is ntel 2915 PRO/Wireless.

Thanks in advance,

Which release of RH are you using? IIRC the driver support was included in RHEL4 from around 2006. And is certainly supported in RH's playground (Fedora).

Or do you mean "how to configure?"

Any success with the wireless? I installed the latest release of Ubuntu yesterday and everything went fine. I had to fetch the drivers from; System-Admin-Hardware Drivers
After that all ran well.

Not me who had a wireless problem - we never heard back from OP ! There has been a bit of a spate of queries in a Linux forum recently from people attempting to install very old RH releases, where the devices were probably not even invented never mind supported, so maybe "bobbi" had got hold of one of those antique versions?

Although I am due to throw Fedora 13 on one of the TPs soon (possibly the T43) so we'll see if the network devices still "just happen"

cheers!
