Connection problems with 2200BG on a T40

#1 Post by DrThinkpad » Sun Jul 18, 2010 4:14 pm

I often leave my laptop on when I go, because I need to maintain my connection. Unfortunately, when my monitor goes off (to save CCFL backlight) after a few minutes, my wireless also goes off. Any clue of what may be the problem ? Thanks in advance !

Go into advanced properties for the WiFI card in device manager. Check that all power savings are set to disabled. You want max power for that card. You may have to reboot to see the new settings take effect.

Update : I fixed every option, but wireless keeps getting off when the monitor lits back. It firsts state that my connection is an unsecured network (I'm using WPA2), and then disconnects. I then have to enter the password again (isn't it suppose to remind it when typed once ?) and then I can connect again.

If you are using access connections, try uninstalling it as a test, and use Windows networking only.

Could you try connecting using an external wireless adapter in your card slot or USB port and see if the same thing happens? Do you use the Windows or Thinkpad power management?
