Aceess Connections not working

#1 Post by multinetting » Mon Jul 19, 2010 2:48 am

All of a sudden my logon profile is not visible, I cannot create any, each time they are not visible, and the process is only runnable during power up.

It powers up wireless then can't initiate next step. Not even getting to the logon.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing latest version but still the same.

Is there more to uninstall than just add/remove programs?

Any ideas?

Let Windows manage your connections.
Another problem could be a defective wifi card.

If you are running XP, try version 5.12.

I can't get Windows Zero config to display network list. I just uninstalled Access connections and still it won't work.

Instead of using the Windows Zero Configuration, try this:

Start > Connect To > Show All Connections > [Right-click] Wireless Network Connection > Properties > Wireless Networks (tab) > [tick] "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings". Click OK and close.

Thanks, but I don't have a Wireless Networks (tab) on that connection.

I just installed 5.12, same problems.

I can't save any profiles. It takes me through creating one, but is blank when I finish.

On Findwifi , connect to my router:
Says - Unable to connect to the selected wireless network.....

do you want to configure now? Yes - Nothing happens.

Driving me mad.

So it doesn't work. Oh dear, what a shame, what a pity.

My recommendation is to ditch Access Connections and use Windows instead, as RBS said a while ago. If your system is so far up the creek that AC doesn't work then either do a factory install and start again, or give up and rely on the other option.

I hope this helps. :)

Beg/steal/borrow another wifi card (miniPCI-express).
Like I already said, yours might be bad/dead/duff/kaput...

Did you try doing a restore to a known good date? If you reinstall or restore Windows XP and it does not work...then try Unbuntu 10.++ beta and see if that works. You can also download a trial of Windows 7. My experiance with wifi on that series Thinkpad has been a PITA. My guess is Windows 7 will fix your problem.

If you are still dead...then I may have an extra wifi card. But regardless, Access Connection sucks big time.

WCZ is running but will not recognize any conections.
I uninstalled Access Connections, and bought a new card:
Wireless Cardbus PCMCIA WIFI Card Adapter 802.11g 54M,K

Driver installed.

Hair pulling, WCZ doesn't recognize this one either!

I am completely stumped, does anybody have any suggestion as to software to manage the connections?

I installed the Intel PROSet/Wireless Wi-Fi Software v12.4.0.0 several weeks ago on my T43 (2687-D3U) and it works great. While it certainly doesn't boast the elegant GUI of Access Connections, it does offer the basic functionality that may resolve your issue.

Could you have a virus/trojan/zombie intrusion that prevents you from going online?
Do a thorough AV check.
Is your software firewall perhaps giving out to you?
Disable it and see what happens.
