replacing battery latches?

#1 Post by schmaud » Wed Jul 28, 2010 3:56 pm

Hi,

I got a rather decent t42 her with a strange problem:
The battery latch on the center of the battery is missing ( and a bit of the base metal in this area as well).

Is there a way to install this part from a donor t4x without dissessembling it completely?

Any other work around to keep the battery from shearing the other latch of as well? ( besides duck tape obviously)

Thanks in advance

cheers

It's been awhile since I did this repair , but I am fairly certain that you have to remove the systemboard from the base to get at the latches. As long as you are going that far, it makes sense to replace the entire base if some metal is also sheered off.

Thanks for the answer, I was afraid, that this would be the outcome.
For the time being I likely stick with the ducktape solution then ...

cheers

Hey, don't knock it - it works! Just use black and not silver "Ducktape"!
