T42p needs the left metal hinge fixed.

#1 Post by Highline » Tue Aug 10, 2010 3:02 pm

Where can I get it fixed?

I live in New Hampshire, USA... and the Lenovo Website is very confusing regarding where I can find service partners.

My laptop is out of warranty.

Thanks!

Personally, I would look for a replacement part on eBay & do it yourself! I will only cost a fraction of an authorized IBM repair specialist & you get all that fun! Seriously they really are not hard to do, often the hardest part is tracking down the part but if you get the IBM hardware maintenance manual, link here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46464

Look for the part you need, type in the FRU number in to eBay & away you go! I would do it for you but I don't think you really want to be paying shipping to the UK & back!!
Some people are like Slinkies................... they are really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs!

Not yet... I haven't been able to part with my device for the time required to send it away. I'm still hoping to find a place in MA to bring it in for same day service. It doesn't seem like something that would take more than an hour to fix.

On eBay you can get L or R hinges for 14.1" or 15" T4x machines for about $7-10.
And it does take 30-45 minutes to do it.
So what's the holdup?
All you need is a Philips #P0 or #P1 screw driver...
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
