Help needed with Wireless configuration ?

#1 Post by arion » Wed Mar 09, 2005 2:08 pm

I have problems with Wireless under Windows XP on T41/42. Access Connections is installed and seems to want to take over control of the wireless configuration even though I have not set it up at all. How do I turn off Access Connections and still be able to turn on/off the wireless radio via Fn+F5 ?

What is the best way to manage network / Internet connections while at desk and while away ?

I have read many comments about Access Connections being flaky ?

I have always just connected via Network or modem etc manually.

I thought my IBM Access Connection (AC) is pretty good. I have my router's SSID broadcast disabled and the AC would still be able to pick up the wireless connection where as the Windows Wireless Connection (WWC) didn't even locate the hidden SSID.

I agree with ehsu that Access Connections is very good, however, if there are no profiles, it should not take over from Windows. Also go into the wireless NIC properties and make sure Windows is set to manage. Finally, if that fails, uninstall Access Connections. ... JD Hurst
