T42 dvd tray ejects by itself for no reason

#1 Post by manteiv » Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:13 am

Hello,

I have a problem with my DVD tray that ejects by itself and I cannot find the reason why (tray is empty). It happens sometime when I am typing something and other time just a small flex of the chassis causes it to eject. Otherwise the drive is running ok (CDRW/DVD combo)

has anyone experienced this problem ?

Remove and reinsert, there may be some dirt in the locking mechanism.
If the problem persist, try your drive in another T4x or another drive in your T42.

Mine has started doing the same if I'm typing hard.

It's mounted in a docking station which puts the laptop at a slight angle so I think there's a bit of flexing caused by pushing the keyboard keys hard. Maybe I should learn to type softer...

mine does the same, so I removed the whole DVD... Don't miss it at all since I have memory stick and now it is lighter...
