Trackpoint stopped working!

The trackpoint won't move the cursor at all, in either XP or ubuntu.

The only thing I did recently (yesterday) was to re-install the "AverMedia" software to watch HDTV, but that seemed to be working fine. I brought up XP and watched HDTV a couple times and the cursor moved around OK. But now, today, for no apparent reason it isn't working, in either system.

It's hard to do anything without trackpoint or mouse.

How's your battery? Try booting the system without it...

I tried it without the battery: no change. Still doesn't work. Then I did some other things, came back and loaded it agaiun and it worked! I have no idea what fixed it, anymore than I have an idea of what broke it!
