broken lid latch

the far left lid latch on my t40 seems to be broken, however i think it is just a matter of re-setting a spring. is the lid user accessible?

Mine broke and my long-time IBM Partner vendor replaced it under IBM warranty. I don't know why it broke (it was not abused). ... JD Hurst

It is, but it's not easy if it's your first time. There are screws to take out (# depends on 14 or 15") and the screen bezel snaps onto the LCD cover in about 10 places along the edge of the display. You need to take that off to get at the latch.
