Different resolutions for an external monitor

#1 Post by JerzeeDevil » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:21 am

Are different resolutions available in display properties when an external monitor is used with the T43? I have a 1280x1040 external monitor. How about on the T60?

All resolutions are supported, some may not be supported with the default settings on the default drivers, but can usually be fixed. ATI's drivers allow one to define custom resolutions. Intel's I'm not sure about.

1280x1024 has been around for many years and is thus supported by virtually all laptops made in this millennium. If you want to use lower, non-native resolutions on this monitor, 1024x768 and 800x600 should be available, although these are 4:3 aspects ratios whereas your monitor is 5:4. Consequently, if you've set your monitor to stretch the image to fill the entire screen, everything would have a distorted shape. Thus, when using these 4:3 resolutions, it's better to set the monitor to maintain the aspect ratio. The downside of this setting is that there will be unused space at the top and bottom of the screen.
