T43 Boot Problems

Hi all,

Have got a Thinkpad T43 that just refuses to boot, and was working perfectly a couple of days ago.

My bet is that some fuses are dead, but some observations/things that I've tried to do:

1) The power LED does not flicker on when you plug in the A/C adapter;
2) Powering on with a fully charged battery doesn't work as well;
3) Remained unsuccessful with another known working A/C adapter;
4) Did the system discharge procedure, and no go;

I'll try to boot the system with a port replicator, just to ensure that the power button's working. Is there anything else that I can try out before I start to dismantle the board (to test the fuses)?

I can't think of anything, but you may want to try stripping out all RAM and cards (like modem and wireless) just to make sure there's no short there. Does the fan spin at all? Here's a diagram of fuse locations that might help. (Thanks to member Poshgeordie)

Tried stripping out all the cards, but doesn't work. The fan doesn't spin at all.

Guess the notebook has reached it's end - will probably give up recovery efforts, and sell the system for parts. Thanks for the assistance though...

Sounds like the motherboard has failed.
