T42P recommendation?
T42P recommendation?
I did several search and couldn't find any topic on which model of T42p is recommended. Can anyone share some experience?
ALso, as I was going through the search, i came across more topic on PROBLEMS ecountered on T42p models. Is this the general consensus? Thanks.

I've got the 2373-HTU (with 15" Flexview UXGA) model. Needed to go to a bigger 80 GB HD (work stuff eats space) and add RAM up to 1.5GB.
I love the system but you will see I'm having some issues with it that now seem hardware related. IBM will swap the main board next week; hopefully that will resolve it. None of the other people on my team (4 others) are having any problems.

First you have to decide whether you want UXGA 1600x1200 which only comes in the 15". If you want a SXGA+ 1400x1050 you have to decide whether you want 14" or 15".
If you don't need UXGA, you should look in my FAQ regarding OpenGL graphics support. You may not need a T42p (which supports the OpenGL) and a T42 would suffice as well and cost less.
T43p uses X600 chip vs. X300 in mid-line T43 which is about 25% faster.
Then look in the tabook.pdf (link in my FAQ) to determine which model you would like with proviso that you can change disk drives and RAM if you want.
Finally, look on the discount sites listed in the FAQ and check prices and then call IBM and check prices telling them what you want in a laptop.
T43 266846U at $1700 discounted is a value model and you can buy different disk drives for upgrade if you wish. See FAQ.
Good luck...

2. x600 is faster (500MHz compare to 390MHz in x300)
3. V3200 comes with 128mb
Here's a review on V3200 http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphi ... ie-03.html
