Thinkpad T-30 wireless connectivity

#1 Post by JcHec » Sun Mar 13, 2005 3:28 am

Having owned a Thinkpad T-30 (2366-81u) for the past year, I have never had a problem with the wireless (High Rate mini-pci w/modem II, 802.11b). Hardware manager indicates that the card is operational with no problems and is enabled. Recently I updated Windows XP Professional with the 2005 latest version and now I cannot connect with the wireless. Refreshing the network list and using the common methods for enabling the card do not work...Any suggestions? I was tempted to use the system restore to go back to the original factory settings, but thought there may be an easier solution.

I've had the same probelm intermittently. There seems to be 2 sets of drivers (one is correct and one is not) for this particular internal wireless card. Both show up in device manager as operational...very strange. I had to uninstall and delete the driver files from my computer completely and then reinstall the right ones after a similar update that you've done (may be the same update...but don't recall now as it's been several months). Then it worked, but still sometimes, nothing happens (even when sitting right next to the wireless router) and so I have to go into device manager and uninstall and reinstall again, reboot, then it works. I'm on #21 or so of the wireless connection, which means I've done this 21 times. It is frustrating, but now that I know the process, when it doesn't connect, I uninstall the drivers, reinstall, then reboot and I'm good to go. This happens to me about 1 in a week or 2.
