t43 intel gpu want to use15" screen

just bought a fairly complete t43 1872-w4v minus K/B hdd and KB bezel and no wifi or Btand no screen.
well this was sold dead suposed gpu failure but it comes with cpu 1.8 dothan ,512 ram pc2-4200 and all the gages and a long hsf ?? the very end was cooling nothing as there is no gpu chip under there.
well put in a 10gb hd and fired up on external monitor and nothing much happened ,fan ran speed up and down harddrive was runnig and being old its very loud but was being accessed , so i thought had to be gpu the model number sticker was unreadable so i could find out nothing about spec from lenovo. i was about to strip it down i pulled of hsf and no ati gpu so put artic s5 on cpu and refitted pulled bios battery to look at chip underneath then refitted, powered up using a T30 K/b at 90 degrees plug fits ..and it came on so installed xp on little hdd and its ben runnig no problem for over 4 hours now .

question ..i have a dead t42 15" with ati gpu 7500 can i hook this upto that panel ok being as this is an intel gpu 900 series and will BT and wifi from a t42 work on the t43
also ram i was told 2 x1gb is max for this board but i can use a faster type if so which type .
i have already hit the hdd boot problem but will live with it when i fit permanent 320 hdd.
also best cpu given i have a 1.8 dothan 2m cache.

LCD from the T42 will work on a T43, but Bluetooth and RAM won't.

1.8 CPU offers a decent performance while running cool. I'd stick with it unless you're doing some heavy multitasking on daily basis.

great i can use the 15" chassis and display . iwas aware of the differance between the ddr /t40 and ddr2 t43 t60 etc sorry about typing , just abit hard using a t30 kb also great to have the express port as i have alot ot these cards that i use on the t60.

all working fine with the 15" display, gpu is intel and when building this up i powered it up and i found i had a greater choice of resolutions than with the ones finally installed from lenovo that being the 800x600 or 1024x768 or there abouts ,.also no boot with an intel 2200bg fru93p3485 just blank screen, so what frus suit this mobo
also i take it there is no custom bios firmwares for the t43
the 1.8 ghz cpu is quite punchy as you stated, i have 2x1gb ram on order and currently using 512mb on xp pro all the usb2 ports and the sata express port work correctly, so all in all buying a dead 15" t42 and fitting a supose dead t43 worked well, in fact all that was wrong with t43 was bios needed reset via cmos battery disconnecting.

93P3485 should work in an Intel T43. It is listed as a valid FRU on the part list. Try updating the BIOS and embedded controller to the latest release, then reinstalling it.

i have done the latest bios.. well they were already on the machine that is bios and EC although i note that the bios dates are out by about 7 days when checked with cpuz, also winxp validation tells its story of may not be legit copy go to Ms and check. having done this it tells me the reason could be date settings are wrong, so unclear with this i am useing wifi through usb through sata port and card would be best , iwill try bios and ec again or get an athos card although which one?? my t43 has an 1872 board intel gpu.

Atheros cards are not listed as being specifically installed on the 1872 machines out of the factory, but the FRU numbers for a T43 are; 39T0355, 39T0357, 27K9948, 27K9999

of the choices available which would have the greater range and sensitivity the reason is this T43 will end up in France in a property we have over there and our neigbour allows us wifi access the walls are thick and he is about 30yards away.

I prefer Atheros on later Thinkpads (.e.g T60's), but I have no experience with them on T4X machines. My favorite there is the Intel 2200BG. I never had problems with range using them.

that card is what i had hoped to fit , it had been in my t42 but the gpu (ati 9000) is intermitant so i stripped it down and was certain it would have worked ok in this t43, maybe there is a prob with the S/B chip in this t43 although every thing is working great . it does seem a bios prob given with the intel card installed i lose the screen.
i wonder if i rolled back bios and EC , icould try from there and work my way back, just dont want a former working t43 bricked.

i have no contol over routers location, just given keys to router, at some point i will get broadband in ,although i may get a reciprocal radio amatuers license and use there facilities via my radio gear, although BB this is the simple way out.

OK, I remember dept 24 but haven't been there for a while. It is a very pretty area.

If your neighbour has a wireless N router then you need an N card to get best contact. T4X machines had wireless G as the highest level. It really does make a difference. Dongles for wireless N get cheaper by the week.

i have been spoilt by the fact of very little hanging out the side, and keep this dongle just to get stuff from lenovo, i am puzzzled as to why the intel card just locks the machine dead.
i picked that part of france as it is very green but has a much extended spring and autumm and very short winter and is remote and unspoilt (as yet) when there were in a tiny perigordian hamlet .

i like that cantena , our favourite treat is roast duck from a local market (Riberac) with new potatoes in herbs ,bottle champange and total bliss, just wonder why we are still in England.
a strange thing this card i have fitted does not show in device manager but the radio light is on (not flashing) and goes of when t43 is in sleep mode and comes on when out ,12p3657 is the card and machine boots ok.
