T43 2668 xxx wont boot up,, Help required.

Hi all. I hope someone can help or advise. I have a T43 2668xxx which wont boot up past the first post screen which does those checks in regular time. However subsequent actions are very very very very slow ZZZZZZ. Sometimes over that booting period the screen will stay blank and hang in that mode. Sometimes when the boot display screen is shown and I press the access ibm button after a while it will say 'entering set up' then just hang or it then may display differnt colour screen untill I turn it off and reboot. The whole thing runs so slow and it doesn't get anywhere near loading windows at all.It runs too slow for the loading of discs. I have tried loading without cd rom and hard drive in..no difference. I have left it alone for weeks now because short of launching it out the window due to frustration, I have run out of ideas.

It's most likely that the SouthBridge chip on the motherboard is failing. Count yourself lucky for living in the UK and contact Nick who'll take care of that for you:
