good single platter HD for T41
good single platter HD for T41
I cannot stand the heat of my segate pata 160GB drive with 4 heads.
My engineer /technician/service++ had given me the best available some month back.
It is nearly full and in my city's(Mumbai@india) it is radiating heat with full generousity.
I have decided to be a miser for staorage and settle for a disk with a single platter.
can I use a new generation sata with a converter?....
T41 2374 , 160 GB(seagate 4 head), 1.7 dothan,1.5 GB .....cpu is cool < 44 ,

Samsung HM160HC (PATA 5400rpm) = 1x160GB platter (2 heads)
You can only use SATA disks in the Ultrabay, using a SATA 2nd hard disk adapter.

can we fit a SSD into a T41?
Re: good single platter HD for T41
Yes, a 2.5" IDE (not SATA) SSD will work.ccezar2004 wrote:can we fit a SSD into a T41?

Re: good single platter HD for T41
will it make any difference or not?.. i mean did anyone actually put one into a T4x and felt the difference?.. speed wise, battery wise...
thank you
thank you
Re: good single platter HD for T41
Difference compared to what? I'd say that the difference in performance over any conventional hard drive would be night and day in favor of the SSD. Battery draw would also be less with an SSD.

Re: good single platter HD for T41
i read some "dead" topics arround that there are some issues with putting an SSD into a T41... are those issues gone with time or there's still a little bit of lottery?...
LE: difference... yeah... between HDD and SSD...

I don't recall having heard of or having read of any issues with an SSD in a T41.
