FDD for T4x?

#1 Post by lukee » Mon Nov 15, 2010 3:05 am

Hi,
according to ThinkWiki.org web, there wasn't floppy disk drive for T4x's Ultrabay Slim. I have got "ThinkPad Dock II" with 4 USB ports and connector for external floppy:

Which cable and FDD drive I have to buy to have floppy solution workable with T43p? May I use FDD for UltraBay 2000 with a proper cable?

Thanks.

There are probably two or more ways that you could go about this, The more conventional way these days is to get a USB floppy drive. If you want purely Thinkpad hardware, the last internal floppy drive made was Ultrabay 2000. So you could get an Ultrabay 2000 floppy drive and one of these cables -

A third way is to find an enclosure with integrated cable. You have to make sure it has the long thin connector like your dock.

Thanks Harry, based on your recommendation I sent inquiry to local laptop&parts seller for an 27L0524 cable. And yes, I prefer ThinkPad parts only.

I use external floppy drive from 600/600E series for my T4x. Port replicator has the exact connector and it works without a hitch.

Is there an adaptor/connector to enable use of 05K6187 via USB?

I have a HP laptop with a faulty optical drive and would to use the 05K6187 via USB.

Thanks
