T40 loose a lot of ENERGY when switched off

#1 Post by sevenw » Tue Mar 15, 2005 5:20 pm

Hi, i recently bought used t40. I works great, the battery is at 21Wh, it is not very much, but it will run for cca 2 hours,

BUT THE PROBLEM is, when I switch it off (hibernate it) and I do not leave it plugged, it will loose many (10 and more) percantages of battery during few hours... I don't know what is wrong. I recognized, that when it is switched off-there is a very quiet noize ("squeeky noise") coming out somwhere near CPU or Fan-I dont know exactly... But when I took off the battery and then when I give it back this noise is no longer.

Dont youknow what could be the problem and how to solve it???

If I remember correctly there was a bios problem once. Upgrade to the latest bios and embedded controller and see if it helps.
